A: Yes, up to a maximum of 25 feet.
Q: Who is eligible for UK Breakdown Insurance?
A: Any permanent UK resident.
Q: When can I make a claim?
A: Your UK Breakdown Insurance commences on the day we process your acceptance form and lasts a year. However, to prevent fraudulent claims on pre-existing problems (therefore keeping premiums low), you cannot make a claim in the first 48 hours of cover. Of course, this waiting period will not apply in your second and subsequent years of cover.
Q: How do I make a claim on my UK Breakdown Insurance Policy?
A: In the event of a breakdown simply call the claims helpline and provide the operator with your name, registration number of vehicle, the exact location of your vehicle, the nature of the breakdown and your policy number.
Q: Will your recovery operator come out at any time?
A: Yes. That's the benefit of our 24 hour, 365 day Emergency Helpline. Whenever you breakdown - at night, during the weekend or on a Bank Holiday - we'll be there to help.
Q: How long will it take for your recovery operator to come out to the breakdown scene?
A: Using a network of accredited recovery operators we will always attempt to attend the scene of the breakdown as quickly as possible. Our present average attendance time is 30-40 minutes.
Q: What happens after I call you?
A: We will arrange for one of our recovery operators to attend the breakdown scene as quickly as possible. We will pay the call out charge and up to one hour's labour costs for one of our approved repairers to attend the scene of the breakdown and where possible carry out emergency repairs.
Q: What if my vehicle cannot be successfully repaired at the scene of the breakdown?
A: In this case, we will pay the cost of recovery of the vehicle driver and up to four passengers to the nearest suitable garage able to effect repair. Alternatively we will pay for the cost of recovery to your onward destination, or home address whichever is nearest.
Q: What if my vehicle repairs cannot be completed within an agreed reasonable period?
A: In this case, you will be offered one of the following options:
- The cost of alternative road/rail travel for the driver and up to 4 passengers from the scene of the breakdown to one destination within the territorial limits stated in the policy, plus a return journey for one person to collect the vehicle upon completion of repairs
- The cost of one night accommodation in the vicinity of the breakdown for the driver and up to 4 passengers up to £40 per night per person.
- The recovery of the vehicle, the driver and up to 4 passengers from the breakdown scene to any one destination within the territorial limits of the policy.
- The cost of suitable car hire for up to 48 hours up to a maximum of £100 per claim.
Q: Is my UK Insurance Insurance transferable if I change vehicle?
A: Yes, Just let us know your new registration number immediately and we'll transfer the UK Breakdown Insurance. You are however only covered for the new vehicle if you have notified us of the change prior to a breakdown. Temporary changes of vehicles are excluded from this policy.
Q: What if I move address?
A: UK Breakdown Assistance at your home is only covered at the address registered at inception. If you change address please notify us immediately.
